There is still a lot of work to be done (of Polish companies do not have a single employee strictly responsible for digital transformation) and time is running out. Competition is not sleeping. There is still much to follow as reported by the European Digital Economy and Society Index. It shows the digital status of a specific country. Indicators were considered, divided into categories, involving: human capital, communication, integration of digital technologies, digital public services. In the study of 2017, Poland ranked 10th, just ahead of Greece, Bulgaria and Romania.
This shows that Polish companies and institutions still have a lot of room for improvement. We are more than 10 points behind European leaders Denmark, Finland and Sweden. In practice, this means years of hard work. We are still far from the European photo retouching average. Compared with other EU countries, Poland still has the largest gap in enterprise technology integration. SMEs in Poland adopt at least a basic level of technology (the EU share is ). We are also less willing to use modern tools and technologies, such as the cloud.
Does a digital strategy exist? Digital transformation cannot be accomplished overnight. Without a concrete vision and strategy, it cannot be implemented because it covers so many elements and areas of a company's operations. While of companies plan to increase spending on digital transformation in the coming months, only a similar proportion have a specific digital strategy in place. Additionally, the vast majority of companies do not plan to increase expenses related to digital transformation (of respondents) or hire new employees (of respondents), which may indicate that they are more willing to change their current models and processes.
